It's early days, but the first polling on public perceptions of Angus Taylor suggests the new Liberal leader may be making a positive impact for the party.
New DemosAU polling conducted exclusively for Capital Brief late last week found 24% of voters view Taylor positively — nine points higher than the support attracted by the woman he replaced, Sussan Ley, in a mid-January poll.
Perhaps more significanrly, when the 1,551 respondents were asked which party they rated best to manage the Australian economy, 29% nominated the Coalition, 24% Labor and 19% One Nation. On the cost of living, Labor and the Coalition were level at 23%, with One Nation close behind on 21%.
Both Labor and the Coalition pay close attention to the best economic manager metric.
