Vodafone network services restored, review underway
More news: All Vodafone network services were fully restored around 11:00am following an outage earlier in the day, according to a spokesperson from parent company TPG Telecom.
The spokesperson also noted that “customers who could not access the Vodafone network were able to access Triple Zero by connecting to other available mobile networks during this time”.
The network outage was caused by a power issue at a Vodafone network hub around 8:00am. The spokesperson said the power disruption was due to a redundancy failure after mains power was switched off to assist with maintenance.
While power was restored within the hour, the spokesperson said service disruptions persisted due to the high volume of customers reconnecting at the same time.
Some customers may’ve needed to restart their devices before being able to reconnect.
What they said: “We are reviewing this incident and working to strengthen the resilience of our network to help prevent a recurrence,” the spokesperson said.
TPG Telecom’s Vodafone hit with outage
The news: TPG Telecom-owned Vodafone, the nation’s third largest mobile network, is suffering from an outage potentially impacting millions of mobile network customers.
The context: On Thursday morning a spokesperson said the company is “aware that some customers are experiencing intermittent issues with Vodafone mobile services and we are urgently investigating”.
They apologised for the inconvenience and said they are working to “resolve the issue as quickly as possible” with updates to be made when possible. The company urged customers to “power cycle their device to restore services”.
Attempts by Capital Brief to use Vodafone’s 5G/4G network status tracker returned an error message.
According to TPG’s FY25 annual report, the company had 5.74 million mobile customers. This includes direct Vodafone customers and brands using the Vodafone network like iiNet, Kogan, TPG and Lebara.
